the afternoon heat is overwhelming, but the finely chopped mint leaves have a cooling effect on me. the US Navy is visiting Odessa, and the enlisted sailors’ presence is felt everywhere, especially here. the bar staff plays a live recording of BB King in their honour. – the thrill is gone, the old man sings, – the thrill is gone, baby, and suddenly the Frapoli feels like Memphis in the 50ies, and I ask the girl for another mojito.
